By the time Bill Schumacher graduated high school, he still hadn’t really considered what his next step would be. He’d mainly just played hockey up until that point and was looking forward to his last long summer vacation. But the film industry seemed like fun, so he managed to get his foot in the door on a film set, and has stayed ever since. In the beginning, he had his sight set on cinematography and started assisting while making a bunch of short independent films on the side. The hunger and desire to create and develop stories made him realize that he ought to be a director. The advertising industry should thank their lucky stars for that. Already in 2001, he got his hands on his first Roy Award and his showreel is now full of films that are tried-and-true in terms of character, tone and visual look. Aside from being talented and highly ambitious, this guy is also friendliness personified. And he still plays hockey in Stockholm’s southern suburbs.
